NEW COFFEE
NEW COFFEE
One of my closest friends, Ahmed, moved to the USA from a small town in Kenya and we’ve been chatting about Kenyan coffees and their characteristics. He’s discussed how they are light and tea-like and after roasting it, I would tend to agree. This is by far the highest rated coffee we’ve ever had at the shop with a whopping 91.7 points.
I tried it as a pour over, and when it cooled, it was the most complex coffee I’ve ever had. Citrus and fig up front, a spicy mid-palette and this delicate sugary black tea as a finish. Insane.
The background in the photo is a collection of three of Ahmed’s authentic African garb, called Dashiki and I thought it was a perfect representation of how this coffee performs in the cup.
NEW
COFFEE
Welcome back Guatemala! It’s been a couple of months since this origin has been at the shop and I am so thankful it’s back. This specific lot is a little more complex than the Guatemalan coffees we’ve had at our shop. I’d say this is a nice Full City roasted coffee.
Sure, there is a nice chocolate finish to it, but there is this lovely mid palette when the coffee starts to cool that is eerily similar to lemon zest and vanilla bean. It tastes like you’re with your significant other on the Amalfi Coast.
I think this coffee works best for a milk-based espresso drink. But, it’s versatile and can be enjoyed with many different brewing methods. Kick back and enjoy this one. It’s an incredibly small lot, so enjoy it while you can.

Unravel the Dreamscape.
For many of us, a life full of turbulence and distress pulls us away from what we truly want. And it can go on for so long that we begin to question whether our personal utopia has any basis in reality.
What if it isn’t real?
Zanarkand represents this duality. Does the life we envision for ourselves exist in reality, or, only in our wildest dreams?
What if I fail?
Your answer can be discovered, if you’re brave enough to uncover it.
Where do I begin?

Roasting with Purpose
Slow down and explore our roasting section.
There are two types of hope. The first is the expectation that today will be better than yesterday. This is because it is a new day with new possibilities; it is passive.
The second type of hope is based on a resolve to improve the day yourself through action.
We believe in doing, and will inspire you to take action to be better than yesterday.

An actionable solution
-
Twenty minutes a day, three days a week is the dose of nature that most effectively decreases the stress hormone cortisol. Visit a local park or other green location where nature is present. The catch? You must silence your cell phone. Go outside, and lightly focus on your external environment. Notice the breeze, the air and the trees.
-
Five cumulative hours a month, explore deeper into nature. Go wilder than the perfectly landscaped public parks and surround yourself with trees, mountains, lakes and nature. The wilder the nature space, the greater the mental health benefits.
-
Three days a year, completely embed yourself within nature. No cell signal. Off the grid. A full on return to your roots adventure. The third day (especially if the days are in succession) is often associated with a complete brain reset. This is the result of incredible reductions in stress, depression and anxiety. It is also coupled with increased mental clarity and creativity.
Why connect coffee and exploration?
Because an unbalanced and complacent life is a breeding ground for depression and anxiety. And, mental illness sucks.
One in five. The number of US adults who experience mental illness. And in a given year, anxiety and depression grab ahold of nearly 30% of us.*
