There aren’t many regions that surpass Huehuetenango when it comes to a perfect coffee. One of my customers, Ro, is from Guatemala and we like to talk about the country and the region and how locals take their coffees. It’s a nice moment when he comes by the roastery for pick-ups. I make him either a double espresso or a flat white and enjoy good company. Sometimes, he even brings his dog. Win-win.

I think the best way to describe this coffee is the word balance. There is the semi-sweet chocolate chip thing going on which is well-rounded by a milk-based drink. Yet there is also a lovely and quiet acidity that is reminiscent of my favorite Lebanese dessert. Pair with the Gesha varietal I have in stock while it remains to experience the full gamut of coffee across this wonderful country.

I must admit I’ve already roasted myself a couple of bags before posting it. Get it while you can. Cheers and happy brewing.

“It brings me back to being in Breckenridge … skiing. I was there two years ago and we would sit by the fire place, drinking coffee, and watch it snow.”
